Removing the pipes
I had been dreading the job of removing the exhaust pipes from the engine because I knew, that after 26 years, the nuts and flanges were going to be practically welded together from rust. I got my trusty can of WD40 and gave them a spray and let it sit for 2 days.
I got the wrench, put the socket on, and gave the first nut a turn. It turned with no effort at all! I thought that was kind of odd, so I checked the remaining 7 nuts. They were ALL finger-loose! Not one of them had been tightened with a wrench!! I just shook my head in amazement and went about removing the rest of them and taking the pipes off.
The squash gaskets are, of course, not reusable, so I have to get a new set from the Honda dealer.
The guys at the Honda parts counter and I will be on a first name basis before this project is done…
